Features such as material gage, flange size, even construction method may be determined by logical parameters.  Alterations in dimensions, quantities, assembly type or rating automatically trigger the appropriate changes in features such as metal gauge, sizes and quantities of perforations, mounting or stabilizing details, etc. The figure below may serve as an example:

  • Sheet metal may be 18 gage CRS if no dimension exceeds 18".
  • This becomes 16 gage if the largest outside dimension is more than 18", but less than 28".
  • If 28” is exceeded in any dimension, 14 gage is utilized.

This the ability to interpret, apply and change this type of underlying logic is built into the system and applied automatically according to the needs and specifications of customers.

Features such as perf patterns, holes, flanges, etc. may be included as requests in the parametric template. Pre-defined punching patterns may be stored and recalled automatically.

Size of the punch pattern may be a function of the overall size of the part or the location of other features (shields, fans, etc.)

Alternative punch patterns or tools may also be presented as menu options to the programmer.
